Drunk Driving Prevention Programs

We believe that drunk driving is completely preventable.  We act on this belief by promoting transportation alternatives that help our legal-age consumers get home safely.

We're committed to expanding our efforts and asking consumers to join in our commitment to being "one million strong" by pledging to be a designated driver or planning ahead for safe transportation.  Since 2009, a total of 2,337,921 people have participated in our programs.  We hope to reach six million pledges by 2015.

Miller Lite Free Rides offers alternative transportation for select cities on key holidays like New Year’s Eve, St. Patrick’s Day, Kentucky Derby Eve and Halloween. By partnering with transit authorities and others, we sponsor free bus rides and taxis.  In 2011, we continued to bring the program to several, including Chicago, Louisville, Nashville, San Diego and Valparaiso, Indiana.  To date, more than 2.6 million people have taken advantage of a safe ride through this program.

Designated drivers remain one of the most important contributors to drunk driving prevention. In 2010, we encouraged 222,778 people to take the designated driver pledge at sports and entertainment events and civic celebrations. One of our most successful promotions launched at a football game in Chicago at Soldier Field when we, along with the Chicago Bears football team, the National Football League, Illinois State Police, Chicago Police and TEAM Coalition encouraged fans to be designated drivers. You can learn more about the program on RHIR.org or by watching this video.
