College Campus Programs

Alcohol-related college campus issues have grown in significance over the years. That’s why MillerCoors is expanding its partnerships and programs to help address issues through harm reduction and safety programs.

We have worked with the community, our local distributors and universities to help students understand the importance of

  • Drinking responsibly
  • Helping others by knowing the signs of alcohol poisoning
  • Not providing alcohol to anyone underage
  • Designating a driver

MillerCoors is also involved with the Student Emergency Medical Services Foundation (SEMSF), to provide training to prevent alcohol poisoning. And, we partner with The W.I.N. Foundation, a non-profit organization that specializes in personal empowerment for women, and The Raise Your Standards program to promote safe and responsible dating.

TIPS for the University – Created by Health Communications, Inc., this peer to peer training equips students with intervention skills to prevent alcohol-related problems such as intoxication, drunk driving and underage drinking among their peers. This practical 3-part program covers the essential knowledge and tools students need including signs of intoxication, absorption strategies, and state-specific laws. The program engages students in a series of realistic scenarios that help develop their abilities to assess behavior and intoxication levels to determine appropriate responses to difficult situations.

Social Norms – The National Social Norms Institute created a social marketing tool and survey that communicates the real versus perceived behavior of college students and drinking. Research is done annually to test message and record changes in student drinking behavior. The program works closely with campus programming to manage alcohol related issues on the campus. One example of the program is at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where it is called Smart Students Smart Choices.
